Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management (EHMM) Course
The Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management (EHMM) is the premier course designed for environmental, health, safety and security (EHS&S) professionals. It introduces new EHS&S professionals to a broad overview of hazardous materials including their use, regulations, shipping, storing, and handling and is an excellent refresher for seasoned professionals. The course provides continuing education credits for maintaining many certifications including but not limited to the CHMM, CHMP, CSP, CIH, and offers the opportunity to refresh professionals of the many topics covered during credentialing exams. The course is also an opportunity for networking with fellow EHS&S professionals attending the class as well as with the subject matter experts presenting the course.
This course runs Tuesday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM each day after the annual PDS. A e-copy or the 4th Edition of the AHMP Desk Reference, slide deck and certification of completion are included.
The Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management (EHMM) course is an excellent educational program for EHS&S professionals. The course, which is managed by the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (AHMP), is a cross-training tool that helps EHS&S professionals quickly and effectively obtain knowledge in new areas as well as areas that have been added to their job responsibilities. It also helps those new to the profession gain a foundation and prepare for the Certified Hazardous Materials Manager® (CHMM®) designation examination. It does not guarantee passage of the CHMM® national certification exam.
Both the Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM®) and the Certified Hazardous Materials Practitioner (CHMP) credentials are accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and meets ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024, the International Standard for Personnel Certification Programs. The Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM®) credential is also accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB). The CHMM® designation remains one of a select few accredited credentials in the environmental profession. As an accredited program, the Institute has earned a significant role in CESB’s Board activities, including participation in the review of accreditation applications for other specialty certification programs.
This course provides instruction on laws and regulations as well as technologies and practices in an overview fashion that highlights and emphasizes what is important for a hazardous materials manager to know and provides essential information for the hazardous materials manager to better conduct his/her job.
